Live Translation Features for Real-Time Bilingual Conversations
Live Translate Live is a simultaneous translation app for conversations that turns any screen into a live bilingual interpreter. Here's everything it does.
Scrolling Translation Display
The core of Live Translate Live is its real-time translation marquee — a scrolling display that shows translated text flowing across your screen. Both the original speech and its translation scroll simultaneously, so both speakers can follow the conversation at a glance.
The scrolling translation display automatically adjusts scroll speed based on how much text is on screen. Short phrases scroll slowly; longer sentences speed up so nothing gets cut off. You can also manually tune the speed, acceleration, and display split from the built-in controls panel.
Simultaneous Two-Way Translation
Most translation apps make you take turns — one person speaks, waits for the translation, then the other responds. Live Translate Live is a true simultaneous translation app for conversations. Both people speak naturally in their own language, and the app translates both directions at once.
This two-way translation approach means conversations feel natural. There's no awkward pause-and-wait cycle. The app works as a live interpreter app for two people who need to communicate in real time.
AI Speech Recognition
Live Translate Live uses advanced AI real-time translation powered by Deepgram's speech recognition engine. It converts speech to text with high accuracy across dozens of languages, handling accents, background noise, and natural speech patterns.
The speech recognition runs server-side for maximum accuracy. Audio streams from your browser microphone to our servers, gets transcribed, translated, and sent back — all in milliseconds. The real-time conversation translator keeps up with natural speaking speed.
Live Translation with Subtitles on Screen
Think of Live Translate Live as live translation with subtitles on screen for real-life conversations. The scrolling marquee works like movie subtitles, but for two people talking face to face. Place a screen between you, and both speakers read the translation in their own language.
Open the standalone marquee window on a second monitor, TV, or tablet for the best experience. The display scales automatically to fill any screen size, making it a perfect bilingual scrolling translator for any setting.
Vis-à-vis Face-to-Face Display
Vis-à-vis mode flips the top row of the scrolling display 180° so two people sitting across a table can both read their translations right-side up. Place a phone or tablet flat between you — one person reads the top row, the other reads the bottom. No craning necks or passing the device back and forth.
The vis-à-vis face-to-face display is enabled by default and can be toggled off from the menu for side-by-side seating. It works on any screen — phones, tablets, laptops, or a TV laid on a conference table.
47 Languages, Any Combination
Live Translate Live supports 47 languages and can translate between any pair of them — that's 2,162 possible language combinations. Unlike translation apps that only work to and from English, you can translate directly between any two supported languages, such as Japanese to Portuguese or Arabic to Korean.
Supported languages include Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, Dutch, English, Filipino, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Norwegian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Tamil, Telugu, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Vietnamese, and many more. See the full list.
Standalone Marquee Window
The standalone marquee opens in its own browser window with zero UI clutter — just the scrolling translation. Share the marquee URL with anyone, and they can watch the live translation on their own device. Perfect for displaying on a TV, projector, or second screen.
The marquee window has its own speed and layout controls (press 'C' to toggle), and adjustable top/bottom row split for balancing space between languages.
Push-to-Talk Mode
In noisy environments or when you want more control, enable Push-to-Talk mode. The microphone only listens while you hold the button, preventing background noise from triggering false transcriptions. Release to stop — simple and effective.
Conversation History
Every translated message is saved to your conversation history. Review past conversations with date filtering, search through messages, and see both the original text and translation side by side. Your history is private and can be cleared at any time.
Works on Any Device
Live Translate Live runs entirely in your web browser. No app to download, no software to install. Use it on phones, tablets, laptops, or desktops — any device with a browser and microphone. Connect to a TV or projector for a large scrolling translation display visible to an entire room.
